Erin Koski lives in Ojai California, she is a jack of many trades and for a long time has been taking care of birds of different types. I photographed her with her Great-Horned Owl and Harris Hawk. Both of these birds were picked up from the wild with serious injuries that would have lead to there death. Erin’s Great-Horned Owl, Poe, was picked up with a head injury possibly received from a run in with a vehicle. Popay the Harris Hawk was picked up with a severely damaged wing that was preventing it from being able to hunt. It could have received this injury by striking a power line while diving for prey, because a hawk reaches such great speed during this dive striking a power line can take it’s wing right off, like a wire through cheese. Erin takes care of these birds and brings them around to schools as part of a program aimed at environmental education.
A few engagement portraits of my Cousin Simone and her Fiance John.
